Believe it or NOT!

I actually didn’t sew tonight. I was going to– had every intention of doing so since I am working on a quilt for a friend. Unfortunately, my stomach decided it had a better idea and, well, that’s the end of that. I took the night off and just relaxed a bit, watching 24 (as much as you can relax watching 24!).

Tomorrow night, I’ll be back at it, I’m sure.

Uploading Like Crazy!!

I’m working on adding things to the stock on my website– I’m adding like crazy!! I knit a lot of things last year and, while I have a lot of towels done, I only have a few that I’ve photographed yet so, I’m trying to get done with this so I can move on to other photos and, of course, more uploading.

My brother called/emailed tonight to let me know that the salmon we caught in July would be here in a couple of days– I’m so excited! Hopefully, with the dry ice and styrofoam container, all will be well. I can’t wait for Brian to try this stuff! It is SOOOOOO good!!

More to upload– feel free to drop by and buy something . . . www.marciasmakings.com.

Busy Time

I rearranged my sewing room again today. The Beast (seen in this picture) was too high on my cutting table for me to really reach comfortably. Then there’s a hook that needs to be part of the threading action that was too low when it was on the table so we moved it to the sewing table. I think this will work better although it is limiting my space there a bit. If a friend comes to sew, we’ll have to do that in the dining room instead of the sewing area.

My friend Linda brought a quilt top over today that she wants quilted. It’s a braided pattern done with BRIGHT colors so it is really gorgeous! She and I talked about the design to use and I’m ready to rock– it’s all loaded up and in the machine ready to quilt tomorrow.

What else?

Is there something else that life is supposed to consist of besides sewing?  Hmm, let me think . . . I received my new iron (purchased at the AQS show in Grand Rapids in August) by UPS yesterday.  I _*LOVE*_ the iron!  Man, it has some power!!  The thing that I like about it is that while it is hot, no matter what fabrics, it doesn’t scorch, burn, or shrivel and that is a good thing when you work with different fabrics, like I do.

Gotta love gadgets!

Long Time to Get to It!

About 2 years ago, I cut out the pieces for towel toppers– things that you sew on to towels so that the towels can be hung from appliance handles and drawer pulls in a kitchen. Today, sewed the vast majority of them together and, of course, there’s still the designs to be stitched for the towels, among other things. I also took the pictures for the scarves and the flour sack towels.

So, yes, I had a very busy day– still not done yet, of course, and then there’s the web work that has to go along with it. I’m hoping to shoot for the end of the month. Since Christmas is coming, I don’t want to go too long after that before I get it set up.

Close to it!

When someone LOVES something, REALLY _*LOVES *_ to do something, is it called a hobby or an Obsession? Hmm, good guess on that one!

I love sewing and all things related to crafting and, as a result, I’m launching my “store” in a few weeks. I’m getting ready by setting up a Facebook page for it and, of course, sewing like crazy! Last winter was the “knitting like crazy” phase (and it will probably be that way again this winter) but I am just sewing like crazy these days!

I’ve got towels that I’m finishing but on top of that, I’ve got a quilt to make for my niece (who is expecting her first child with my nephew). I’ve already started piecing that one even though I don’t have to have it finished until November. Then, the baby isn’t due until February so I won’t be able to completely finish the quilting on it until s/he is born. Still, I’m working on it now because I just _*LOVE*_ sewing!

Okay, it’s an obsession!

Set Up?

I think I’m set up with enough flash/thumb drives to accommodate all of the designs that I’ll be stitching out the rest of this month. I’m going to finish the pictures this weekend and then, I’ll be able to start assembling the website. Hopefully, I can figure it out myself but I’m not sure. The Word Press dashboard and set up is different than I’ve worked with before so I’m a little concerned about my abilities to get everything up and running. The good news is that the Resident Geek’s office is across the hall from mine and I’m sure he’ll be more than happy to help out.

Nothing’s New Here

But I thought I’d drop you a note. I did talk with my brother tonight. He and his wife are doing well and hopes to send the fish (from our charter expedition in July) next week. I’ll be having a salmon party, with Brian’s help and it will be nummy!!

Now to upload a picture here…

Spitz and Spurtz??

Yes, well, that’s what it can be like on a three-day weekend!

So Saturday morning went really well! Since I already know a bit about embroidering on things, after years of working on my Designer 1s, learning the particulars of this machine was a breeze. Not sure how much I’ll remember but at least I know where to look for things, which is a help at all times.

Sunday was spent in church and, although there was a Quilter’s Bible Study scheduled, only myself and one other person were there so we decided to go shopping for fabric instead. (There were supposed to be four people but the other two were sick.) Fabric shopping with friends is always fun– Linda and I had a lot of good laughs and caught up on things in general (we hadn’t spent any time together since early July!).

Today started far too early thanks to Brian having to go to work (federal holidays are the best time to do server-changing maintenance– or whatever he did!) so I got out of bed, ate breakfast and began the biggest task of the weekend: cleaning my office. I hadn’t sorted through things in a long time and had done no official cleaning since some time in June or so. Yikes what a mess! After 2-1/2 hours though, I had a handle on it and am actually about 90% finished. I can finish the balance of it during the week while I’m working so I’m good with that.

Just as I finished working on that, one of my other friends, Linda Rose called to say she wanted to quilt a quilt that she had made so she and I went downstairs to work on the Fusion. Lots of laughs, again, and we got about half through the quilt and I finished piecing some quilt blocks I was working on for QBS, too.

All in all, I had a productive weekend, needless to say! It should be an interesting few months, don’t you think?
