More PayPal Updates

I had finally worked out how to put a “Buy Now” button on my website (http://www.marciasmakings.com) only a week ago and now tonight, I replaced that with the “Add to Cart” button.  This, obviously, allows the opportunity to purchase more than one item.

NOW, I will work on getting new photos of the towels and other things that I have to sell– that’ll take a while but it will be fun to set up!

Lucky Me!

I get to be the poster child for dental work again!  I’m developing TMJ because I’m not chewing correctly SOOOOO, I have to get a new crown on one of my molars so that there’s something to anchor a bridge on for the left side of my mouth (the link will go under my tongue; it isn’t noticeable).  I’ll be spending quite a bit of time with the dentist and his staff again– good thing I like them– but there probably won’t be too much pain.  Lovely.

Not My Fault!!

I tried to post over the weekend but I couldn’t get there from here because the internet went down.  So did our telephone (go down, I mean) but the television was working.  As Brian says, “They’re all in the same tube/cable so why it happened, I don’t know.”

It is amazing how we’ve become so dependent AND addicted to the internet and all of its charms.  I couldn’t read blogs, CNN, or even log into the one and only game I play on the internet these days– I was bored out of my mind watching television and grateful for sewing (even without streaming music from my favorite radio station).  It did come back sooner than it was expected to so that was helpful, at least for Brian’s sanity.  (He’s way worse than I am about internet dependency.)

I worked on alterations over the weekend and on Sunday, the owners of the clothes came by to pick them up.  After that I quilted for a customer and then watched television with Brian– that was the end of my Sunday and weekend.

On Monday, I went to the quilt shop to work, as usual.  I wore a different pair of shoes and found out that I should burn them.  They’re supposed to be “good for my feet” but they were only good for making my feet HURT!  I had a hard time getting to sleep last night because they hurt so bad!

I’m going to stick to my Mephistos and Brook’s Addictions for work and my feet won’t hate me so much.  For the rest of the time, I wear Brook’s Ghost model which I don’t like as much as I thought I would but, at least its mesh so my feet don’t choke from the heat!

Did I tell you?

I just recently finished reading ‘War of the Worlds”!  Yes, I know– I have always been a late-bloomer!

Anyway, I didn’t go to college right from high school and I think if I had, I would’ve read this book during that time.  At that time, however, I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up so . . . anyway, I read it last week and found it to be amusing.

I’ve been on Amazon and a couple of other “free” e-book places and have about 300 books either downloaded or waiting to download.  I don’t think I’ll run out of “Summer Reading” any time soon.

So far this weekend (Yes, yes– Happy 4th of July!), I’ve embroidered, sewed, and quilted– nary a dull moment.  Tomorrow I’ll do more quilting as I have two of my own quilts and two paying quilts to work on and then I’ll get back to machine embroidery or sewing or something.

Recent Events

Over the weekend, I sewed (shocking, I know), embroidered, and pieced a quilt top from “orphan blocks” from my guild.  I’ll finish sewing it together and quilt it in the next week or two.  I’ve got some paying quilts to do first and then, there are a couple I’d like to quilt for myself.  I work today so the rest of the week will have to be when I do the quilting.

I went to church on Sunday and after, I did some shopping for some new tops to wear with capris and shorts.  When I finished lunch after I got home, I tied a baby quilt that I was working on and started watching the movie, “The Help” and loved it!  I didn’t get to finish it because Brian wanted to watch some TopGear that had DVRd so I finished it yesterday, as I ate my lunch.

My beautiful niece that’s married (as opposed to my beautiful niece that’s not married) had a baby last week– her third.  The baby’s name is partly after my mother (Margaret Clarice); they are going to call her Maggie Clare which I think is wonderful and beautiful!  (Clarice was my mother’s name– Faye’s sentimental like that which I think is cool!)

More to come this week, I’m sure!

Whoops!

I just realized that its been a week since I’ve posted– sorry about that! Besides looking for a “real” job, I’ve been hired at my favorite quilt shop in the area in which I live as a part-time “clerk”. So far, only one day a week but it is fine, although a LOT tiring! My feet are exhausted but the rest of my joints are doing okay, all things considered!

I’ll try to do better but the biggest thing is getting pictures taken of new quilts and getting some of the towels photographed, too. I’ve started doing my stock for Christmas towels so it’s pretty interesting to see the Christmas colors in June!

Date Night!!

We rarely go out to movies– rarely buy them anymore either, for that matter– we have Netflix on streaming television but that’s it.  Yesterday, during the day, Brian called to see if I wanted to see “Star Trek Into Darkness“.  Well, duh!!

So we had a rare night out, complete with popcorn and lots and lots and LOTS of trailers.  There were at least 20 minutes of trailers after the scheduled start time of 6:45.  That wouldn’t have been so bad, but they were all for trailers that were due to be out in the Summer– yes, due to be out tomorrow in theatres.  Not surprisingly, most of them were already showing in that theatre.

‘Nuf complaining– I loved, loved, LOVED the movie!!  There were so many wonderful references to Star Trek The Original Series movies and television show.  At one point, Chris Pine (who plays James T. Kirk) actually looks like a young William Shatner– albeit, only ONE time.

My next pick is “Much Ado About Nothing” but Brian doesn’t want to see that– I’ll have to try to find a cheap matinee for that one.

Anybody out there?

So, once again, this past week has been relatively boring.  There were two jobs that I applied to hoping to talk the companies into telecommuting– the problem with being a “Software Contracts Manager” is that there aren’t many software companies in Maryland.  <Sigh>  This is not good, needless to say however, I will keep looking.

I finished a quilt top this week and the binding on several other quilts that I’ll post pictures of within a week or so.

As always, thanks for your patience.

Some random thoughts . . .

So why am I second on Brian‘s BlogRoll?  You would think I’d rate above Doc Searles (did I spell that right?) or maybe its alphabetical?  If that’s the case, then I get it.

(I told you they were random!)

So I’m working on quilts and things of machine embroidery and a friend of mine says “What about baby things?”  So yes, I make baby things and then she asks me about a baby sleep sack in particular.  Now I know that this woman friend of mine is beyond the years of having her own baby so I’m guessing that one of her grandchildren (she was a YOUNG grandmother) may be expecting?  Could be . . . at any rate, I’ve gotta get working on the baby stuff this week– I’m going to make “Baby Puffs” which are small puffy baby quilts and of course, the requisite sleep sacks.  Mine are going to be special because they will include an embroidery design or two because I’m talented that way.

When did “Contracts Manager” start to mean health care provider contracts?  That’s what about 75% of the advertisements for jobs are for and I know that’s something new.  New and annoying, shall we say?

When I go to the State of Maryland website, they now tell me that when I enter the words “contract negotiation” (without quotation marks), I am limiting my search. So I take out “contract” and search on the word “negotiation” which comes up with the same response– no listings and tells me that I’m limiting my search.  <Sigh>

Why can’t I stay focused on working out better?  I ride my bike [most mornings] and then that’s it– I don’t do anything more.  I’ve got the subdivision’s pool that I could swim in but do I want to go there?  <People will see me!>

Must do work on my website soon– I need to insert more/better meta tags.

Yeah, I know . . .

That wasn’t much of a post, was it?  Sorry about that but, I am still looking.  The jobs are few and far between but I’m applying nonetheless.  On the home front, I continue to sew, which at least keeps me out of trouble, for the most part.

I’ll try to post more when there is more to post.
